LODGE FEES TO WAIHI HOSPITAL REPORT BY COMMITTEE TERMS OFFERED ACCEPTED Payment by lodges for the treatment of members in the Waihi Hospital was the subject of a report.by Mr S. H. Brown at the monthly meeting of the Waihi Hospital Board on Tuesday evening. Mr Brown spoke on behalf of the committee that had been appointed to go into the matter, and stated that in Waihi they had to deal with three lodges, no two of which weie alike. The board must give up the idea of making them all fall into line with Itn rules, and there was so little difference in the payments provided for by the rules of the lodges that he thought they should accept what was offered. This decision had been ar- : ived at after the matter bad been gone into fully, and he would move '.hat they fall into line with the present arrangements made by the lodges, with the proviso that the board should have the right to charge lodge patients for,the use of the ambulance, X-rays and anaesthetics when thought fit. The secretary (Mr J. W. Tetley) said that the Oddfellows for one would "not agree to this. A Member: They can’t stop us. Mr J. Kemp raised the question of the treatment of urgent cases involving lodge members from other districts.
Mr A. E. Robinson quote! figures to show the large amounts that had been paid to hospital boards bylodges over a period of some years. Mr Brown’s motion was then put to the meeting and carried, after which Mr Kemp moved that they accept all urgent hospital conference lodge patients as was done by other boards.
This was seconded by Mrs S. F. Williams and carried.
