WAIHI COMPANY’S PROGRESS REPORT WORK AT LOW LEVELS The following interum report on development works in progress at the low levels has been cabled to the London office of the Waihi Gold Mining Company:— No, 10 Level—Martha lode east of Lowrie crosscut: The next 45 feet of, driving (143-186) assays 2s 9d per ton. At 161 feet we have crosscut to the north through a mixture of quartz and country tor 27 feet; the assay value being 4s 6d per ton. No. 11 Level—Edward lode: At 1.180 feet south we have crosscut to the southeast. The first 53 feet is through country, the next 14 feet is reef assaying 5s 3d per ton, and the last 10 feet is country lock. No. 12 Level—Martyn south-east crosscut from Empire lode : The first 54 feet is country, the next 4 feet is the south branch of the Dreadnought lode, assay value 10s 3d per ton j course 30 degrees (true), and dip 1 in 1J north ; the next 6 feet is a mixture of quartz and country assaying Is 9d per ton, v No. 13 Level—Edward lode : Commencing from the 200 feet south crosscut on the east wall wo have driven south 28 feet. The assay value is 8s 3d per ton. No. 15 Level—Driving west from the No. 4 shaft north crosscut wo have met the Martha lode at 98 feet and have penetrated it diagonally for 17 feet. The assay value is 2s per ton. '
