During the month of September the takings on the'tram service to Castlecliff totalled .£498, as against .£665 for the same month last year. The receipts in August were £398. For the fouK months ending September the fares totalled £IB9B, compared with £2368 for the same period, last year. When the returns were laid on the table at the. Tramway Board on Tuesday evening members expressed satisfaction with the results of the broken service and with the fact that “Puffing Billy” had materially helped to save a serious situation ~ The proposed formation of a HydroElectric Power Board for the Wanganui, Waitotara, and Rangitikei districts was advanced' another stage this afternoon. A meeting of representatives' of local bodies in the districts mentioned was held at the Borough Council Cham-, hers, his worship the Mayor (Mr T. B. Williams) presiding. It was resolved to hold a conference of -lagal body representatives at Marton on Monday, 29th November, at 2 o’clock, when it is hoped Mr Birks, Chief Electrical Engineer, will be present. At that meeting definite steps will be taken for the constitution of the - Power Board, and reports .concerning possible sources of supply and other matters’will be discussed.
