The Premier outlined the programme of work remaining for Parliament, which should keep the session going till ,■ next week, though he expressed th“ nope that self-restraint by the talkatfve members would result in the end coming, on Saturday night. Answering Mr Wxlford, who, was curious lo know how many Bills would be included in the usual /slaughter of innocents, the Premier enumerated the following Bills on the Order Paper, -tiieir j resent states also being shown.: Bank of N.Z. Bill (second reading), the Hon. Mr Massey; Animals Protection Amendment Bill (consideration of amendments of the Legislative Council), the Hon. Mr Anderson; District Railways Amendment Bill (second reading), the Hon. Mr Coates; Orchard and Garden Diseases Amendment Bill (second reading), the Hon. Mr Noswofthy; Stone Quarries Amendment Bill (second reading), the Hop. Mr Massey; Local Railway Amendment Bill (second reading), the Hon. Mr Coates; Noxious Weeds Amendment ■ Bill (second reading), the Hern./ Mr Nosiworthy; Shops and Offices Amendment Bill (No. 3) (to be committed), the Hon. Mr Herries; Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Bill:(to bo committed),, the Hon. Mr Nosworthy. Commenting, on this programme, the "Premier said that there yas a difference of opinion over the Shops and Offices Bill, also over the Rabbit Nuisance Bill. Mr Young: “The last Bill is badly wanted, and has been promised.” Mr Massey; “I ?iave had .experience of Rabbit Bills before, but this on© is wanted.” He’ went on to say that further new Bills would incliide the Railways authorisation, providing for three short lines; a Finance Bill, providing money lor pensions among other things; the usual “Washing Up” Bill, European and Native; the Education Bill, now before the Education Committee, also a short Hospital Bill. The .Marriage Amendment Bill would ’’be gone on with, but he could not definately say what would be doiie with the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bill, which originated with a member of the Legislative Council, and had been asked for. There would be-also a Greymouth Harbour Bill. Mr Parry asked if the .Government would protect consumers of gas in regard to its quality, either by legislation or through action by the Board of Trade. ' /The Hon. Mr Lee replied that legislation would be needed to carry out this function, but whether it-could be, passed this -'session he was unable to say.. ' • ,v : , .
