CHANGES EFFECTED. (By Telegraph-—Special to “Herald”). . WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. The Education Committee has slightly amended the clause relating to the extension of the school age to 15, and it has deleted the provision enforcing compulsion in cases where children live more than three miles from school. The clause empowering a Board to retain women teachers until they are 60 instead of 55, has been deleted. Another clausa empowering the transfer of school medi* cal officers to the Public Health Depart* ment was withdrawn by the Minister of Education, as sufficient power to do thik is contained in the Health Bill.
