. > |j GREYMOUTH FREEHOLD CLAUSE DELETED. (By Telegraph—Special to "Herald.”) WELLINGTON, Nov'. 2. The Native Lands Claims Adjustment Bill has - been circulated, and ,it hat been considered by the Native Affairs Committee, which struck out a clausa empowering the Native Land Court, with the consent of the Public Trustee, to partition and grant orders of exchange in the Mawhero Block, on which the town of Greymouth stands. If the House, adopts the Bill as amended, it will deprive Greymouth lessees of the chance to secure the freehold. Clause 19 embodied a provision for Hie acquisition of the remaining portion of Knpiti from the native owners, the' f larger part being already in the hands of the Crown, which has set the island apart as a bird sanctuary; but the Native Affairs Committee has deleted the clause.
