Mr H. H. Richardson, who will succeed Mr J, Aitken as headmaster of the Victoria Avenue School, on Monday night formally tendered to the School Committee his resignation _ headmaster of the Feildipg District High School. In tho letter reference was made to the expmplary conduct of the children, the sympathetic attitude of the parents, the splendid work of the Committee, and the generous help of the stall which he hack had during his seven years in’ the - responsible position. It was at this school, said Mr Richardson further in the letter, that he had experience of lady members on the Committee, and he hoped it would always be bis fortune to be associated with schools on whose Committees there were lady members. Mr Mclntyre had soma nice things to say in reply re the good tone of the school, the creditable environment, and the full measure of solid effort which Mr Richardson had given to the school. He was leaving as the result of well-earned promotion, and for the Committee Mr Mclntyre wished Mr Richardson continued success. It was agreed to prepare a suitable testimonial for presentation to the departing headmaster. Mr J. J, Buckrell, of Wanganui, accompanied by his wife and- daughter, has been in Somersetshire and Devonshire, and , after visiting France and Belgium, hopefc to return to New Zealand in November.
