McSWINEY’S FUNERAL

SCENES AT HOLYHEAD. Received Oct. 30, 12.10 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 29. On the arrival of McSwiney’s body at Holyhead the stationmaster proceeded to carry out his instructions and transfer the body to a special steamer direct for Cork. The Irish party made vehement protests, and after lengthy altercations, the police entered the van and forcibly ejected a young man. Miss McSwiney created a further scene. She and another lady were ejected, and the coffin was removed by a large armed escort aboard a steamer. The disappointed Irishmen remained on the quay end knelt in prayer as the steamer left, and then boafded the Kingston mailboat.
