PURCHASED IN AUSTRALIA. Received Oct- 30, 12.10 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 29. The New York Herald’s financial correspondent learns that the National City Bank has consummated the purchase of five million dollars worth of gold in Australia, part of which is already en route to America. The remainder is coming in November or December. The correspondent adds that the venture is expected to be profitable and to open a path to the subsequent acquisition of gold.
