A SERIOUS CHARGE

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCILLOR COMMITTED. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Aug. 27. At the Police Court to-day, Matthew Bradley, a city councillor, aged 62 years, was charged with carnally knowing a girl over the age of 15 and under 16. Chief Detective Bishop, who prosecuted, suggested that the Court, which was crowded, should be cleared, “as the details of the case were pretty bad.” Magistrate Bartholomew then ordered the Court to be cleared, and forbade publication of details of 'the evidence. Accused, who reserved his defence, was committed for trial, bail being allowed. ■
