SPORTING.

RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club -was held in the Bulls Town Hall on Monday evening. Mr J. H. Perrett presided over an attendance of about thirty members. The chairman gave an interesting resume of the proceedings at the last meeting of the |v T ew Zealand Racing Conference, and also dealt fully with the affairs of the club during tne past season, congratulating- the members on the satisfactory position it now holds. ANNUAL REPORT. Finance. —The club has had another very successful year, receipts from all sources having greatly increased. During the year the mortgage on the club's property, amounting to .£2500, has been paid off. The sum of .£2839 18s 3d was spent on improvements. Further progress is Impossible at present owing to the embargo placed on non-essential building by the Government. Donations. —The following sums have been donated: Dr Barnardo’s Homes .£25; Peace Celebrations £2O; Hunt Club £75. The annual race meeting was held on the 24th and 25th March, and was exceptionally successful. The attendance was a record. Our new appointments ’were severely tested, but came through the ordeal splendidly. Deaths. —It is with extreme regret that we have to record the deaths of two members, viz., Messrs A. E. Bglinton and G. G. Shonrock. Thanks.—The thanks of the club are due to Mr J. M. Johnston for his valuable assistance in laying out the grounds, also to the hon. officials. Finances.—The amount paid in stakes during the year was £3IOO, in totalise tor tax £2919 5a 4d, on improvements £2839 18s,' and repayment of mortgage £3500. The principal receipts were totalisator £6833 11s, nominations and acceptances £730 10s, privileges £1268, and profit on farm £99 7s fid. The report and balance sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS, The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr J. A. Bailey; president, Mr Jas. McKelvie; vice-presidents, Messrs D. Coughlin, F. J. Mansell, J. H. Perrett and W. J. Phillips (all of the above gentlemen were re-elected); committee (three vacancies), Messrs -a.. Amon, J. E. Walker, and W. S. Penny; hon. treasurer, Mr F. J. Mansell; auditor, Mr A. J. B. Sicely. Mr J. H. Perrett was elected a life member of the club. Mr Perrett exappreciation of the honour conferred upon him. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. * ®
