The situation in Poland is extraordinary, for while the Russians are still attacking in the Luxemburg area, also on the Vistula, north-west of Warsaw, and near Plotsk, Gcrmau accounts report that- the Red retreat in the centre and along the East Prussian border in The direction of Grodno has hecumo a panic under pressure of the Polish cavalry, while the Bolshevik commissariat, herds of cattle, cavalry and infantry are a mixed mass fleeing homewards. Whole regiments have flung away their weapons, and officers are Tiring their revolvers vainly attempting to restore order. ALLIES TO R EVICT CAL POLAND. Received August 23. 1 p.m. LUCERNE. August 24. Air Lloyd George ami Sigr.c-r Giolitti received press rcnres-'iUativcs. Mr Llovd George declared that means of revfctualiing Poland through Danzig must be preserved under the Treaty of Versailles. Signor Giolitti said he did not believe there was a single point on which file Allies were not unanimous.
