POWER OF ELOQUENCE

MAN SAVES HIS LIFE. “ONLY LET ME SPEAK.” Reuter. VANCOUVER, August 12. After setting fire to a gaol a mob which attempted to lynch the alleged murderer of a little girl at St. Katherines, Ontario, desisted, following an appeal made by the proposed victim himself. All preparations had been made to hang the prisoner, when he begged a chance to speak from the steps of the public Library. Following his fervid declaration that he was not guilty, the mob returned the prisoner to the police.
