PURCHASED BY CHILE. Received—August 25, 11.35 a.m. NEW YORK, August 24. The New York limes’ Washington correspondent states it is rumoured that Chile is about to purchase six more British destroyers of the 900 ton type. The balance of power in _ South America will be seriously disturbed through the addition of five warships bought from England by the Chilian Government. Brazil, Argentine and Peru are taking a decided interest in tbe question of also increasing their naval strength.
