The Times Warsaw correspondent says that Warsaw may now be regarded as T*erfectly safe, and there is a possibility that the Reds in attempting to cross tha Vistula may bo out off, as there are no Rod reserves within reach to assist them. The successes so far won are attributed to the skill and excellent work of General Weygand and the French staff. Under their capable leadership the* Poles have reasserted their ascendancy, and enthusiasm 'is running high. The Poles are determined to drive out the Reds. PILLAGERS AND MURDERERS. The Bolshevik invasion had the wholesome effect of curing many incipient Bolsheviks, who saw in the Reds only pillagers and murderers. GERMAN PLANS FEUSTEAT ED, Received August 24, 9 a.m. PARIS, August 22. Weygand believes the Polish successes upset a German, plan to purchase the support of the Soviet with a view to attempting to destroy the Treaty of Versailles. The scheme actually included the' desperate idea of throwing the Red armies across the Rhine. 'lhe Polish resistance has depressed French Bolsheviks; though some clamour against war it continues. It is doubtful whether a strong Anglo-French labonr entente will Re established, despite the optimism of Messrs Adamson and Gosling. A DISORDERLY RETREAT ALL COMMUNICATIONS CUT. Received August 24, 9.15 a.m. PARIS, August 21. The latest Warsaw reports state that the Bolshevik field forces continue a most disorderly retreat. Their communications have been cut on all sides. WARNING TO THE POLES Received August 24, 9.15 a.m. WASHINGTON, August 21. The Stats Department has sent warnings to Poland nob to continue their advance into Russian territory if her armies succeed in driving the Russians back into Russia. STRONG RUSSIAN REINFORCEMENTS. e LONDON, August 21. The Russianes are bringing strong reinforcements to the Polish corridor. The German population is fleeing across the German frontier. The situation of the Russian northern wing is regarded as untenable. THE MINSK CONFERENCE. LONDON, August 21. It is believed the Bolsheviks are keeping the Polish envoys at Minsk in ignorance of the Reds’ retreat. POLES CONGRATULATED. PARIS, August 21. M. Millerand congratulated General* Pilsudski on the ’glory with which the army had covered itself.
