WANGANUI SPRING MEETING. The large number of horses already here augurs well for the success of the Wanganui J.C. spring meeting, to be held on the 33rd and 25th September. The programme is one which should attract large entries, as all classes are well catered for. Events which are Utelv to be particularly interesting are the Guineas, the Debutante Stakes and the N.Z. Eclipse Stakes. It is expected that a large number of 1 wo-vcar-olds will contest the Debutante Stakes, while the Guineas will bring together most of the best performers as two-year-olds last season, and it will be interesting to see bow they will shape in the first classic race of 1 heir three-year-old career. The N.Z. Eclipse Stakes is a new race,' which is sure to become very popular, as it is a weight-for-age event, in'which the crack three-year-olds will meet the best of the older horses, and the contest promises to be one well worth seeing. The stake is a good one, .£350 going to the winner, and as there are no penalties or allowances it wi.l be practically a champion race. The other events are all well endowed, and the club should receive record nominations on Monday next.
