After paying 1 the Government <£6360 6s 7d in taxes, the Otahuhu Trotting Club made a profit of ,£3605 18a 7d on tlip season’s working. The prominent cross-country horseincft, H. Lorigan and R. Thomson, have announced their intention of retiring from race riding to take up farming. Latest advices from Sydney state that Finmark divides favouritism with Richmond Main, and Silverton for the A.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap. Two previous winners of the New Zealand Oup—Vagabond and Sasanof—figure amongst tire entrants for the coming race. During the past four years the financial position of the Woodville Jockey Club has improved to the extent of .£OOOO. .Both Amy thus and Arrowsmith have furnished nicely during the winter, and, when the fine weather sets in, they will be quite ready to go into strong work.
