PERSONAL

The President of the Agricultural Association (Air H. V. Hammond) yesterday made feeling reference to the deaths of throe of the Association’s members, .Messrs T. D. Cummins, Noah Garner, and A. MoFarlane. A resolution was carried respectfully tendering the sympathy of the Association to the bereaved relatives. .Subscribers of the Public Library will learn with regret that Miss Ball, who, by her courtesy and pleasant manner, became ‘very popular, is severing her connection with the institution. The members of the staff also possess similar feelings of regret, and felt that they could not allow her to leave without giving her a token of their esteem and regard. Consequently Miss Ball was yesterday entertained at morning tea, and occasion was taken to make a suitable presentation to her. The gift took the form of two handsomely bound volumes, and it was accompanied with the very best wishes of every member of the Library staff. We understand that the Borough Valuer, Mr John P. Watt, is about to take up also the position of Government Valuer for the Borough of Wanganui, having been so appointed by the Valuation Department for the purposes of land and income tax. The Education Board last evening decided to place on record its appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the Board by Mr F. Pirani during his long term as chairman, and also the services of Mr Bryant, Palmerston North, who did not seek re-election. The Wanganui Education Board at their meeting last evening expressed sympathy with. Mr H. Mclntyre, a member of the Board, in the death of his mother. Motions of sympathy were also accorded to the relatives of the late Mr J. R. Johns, late storeman, and to Mr and Mrs Matthews, Director of Feilding Technical School, on the death of their daughter.
