The State Bank Bill introduced by Mr Veitch came under brief consideration to-night, when the Premier, who had previously secured tho Speaker's ruling that it infringed the Standing Orders preventing a. private member moving a motion involving expenditure, moved ihat the Bill be discarded from tho Order Paper. Mr Veitch objected to a measure containing a well-supper ted principle being disposed of finnnurily because the leader of the dominant party objected to it. He contested the motion. Hut it was lost on a division by 35 votes t<» 23.
