AMUSEMENTS.

A BIG PAEALTA PICTURE. “SAHARA.” At the Grand to-night the new programme, including the Paraita feature, ‘'Sahara/' featuring Louise Glaum, will 100 screened again. This picture is in six acts, and allows Paris with its gaiety and appeal, Cairo with its mystery and luxury, and Shabar, a simblistered, palm-clustered oasis in tiro desert of Sahara, in which Louise Glaum plays her part and displays an assort- , merit of gowns which will appeal to all women. 'Hie supports will include Bathe’s Latest Gazette, and the third series of winter spoids in Quebec. Reserves may bo scoured at Collier’s, or by ringing ’phone 1152. Matinees will commence to-morrow at 1 p.m. and 3 p m. HIS MAJESTY’S. WILLIAM RUSSELL. Another complete change of programme was screened at this popular theatre last night, when William Russell appeared in a five-act comedydrama, “New York Luck.” As Nich Fowler, William Russell is at his best, and the story opens with him as the station agent at a Maine village, where his day dreaming seriously interferes with work as a railroader. When he barely escapes the responsibility for a head-on collision, he gives up the job to go to the city to join a motion picture studio. Ho is given a rousing send-off, but it doesn’t seem the same in the big town. He is about to write tome his despair, but he feels that they want romance, not hard luck stories, and he writes a play around his supposed adventures, which proves good enough to make a picture for tho movies. The acting is goed, and the picture is well mounted, and has a lot or good, clean, wholesome comedy running through it. Tho supporting pictures are good, and include a lively comic of tho seaside type, with beautiful girls and gorgeous bathing costumes. Special mention must be made of the excellent rendering of “Tho Gondoliers” and the solo, “Take a Pair of Sparkling ’Eyes,” by Mr Northey, was well received. The same programme will be screened again to-night, and seats can be booked at Upton’s music shop.
