LIBERAL STALWARTS.; Australian and N.Z, Cable Association. LONDON, Feb. 7. Replying to Lord Haldane’s opinion that the Liberal Party is passing and that its future lies with Labour, Mr Asquith is reported to have replied: “What nonsense! The Liberal Party was never so vigorous since the war ended.” Lady Bonham Carter continues to be one of her father’s best assets. She told a woman’s meeting that without Liberalism they would be between the coalition devil and the Labour deep sea, THE KING’S SPEECH.; LONDON, Feb.- 6, The King’s speech at the opening of Parliament emphasises the importance of the financial problem, also the Irish Home Rule Bill, unemployment insurance, coal policy and the import restrictions. The Daily Express predicts that incomes under £25.0 will be exempt from taxation. The Government will obtain substantial revenue by a sliding scale and limitation ,of profits on industries.
