INFLUENZA.
NOTIFICATIONS IN AUCKLAND, (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 9, . A’ total of 280 cases of influenza were notified in the Auckland Health District during the week ended noon to-day. This showed an increase of 117 eases compared with the previous week. A-large majority of the cases were of the mild or common type. There wore ten cases of pneumonia. Four serious cases of influenza wore notified during the week-end. The District Health Officer states that one very" satisfactory .feature is that nearly the whole of the cases which have occurred recently are of mild catarrhal type. He added that schools in the district might possibly re-open on February 23rd, tint it was unlikely they would do so before this date.
