— 247.580 CONFERRED, (Renter.! Received February 7, 8.5 a.m. LONDON, February 5. An official statement of war honours shows that the total conferred on members of British forces amounted to 34-7,5-30, on members of Indian forces 65SS, making of this total 579 Victoria Crosses, two with bars; and 8991 distinguished service orders, 784 with bars. A comparison is attached showing 3714 honours conferred in the Boer war, when troops in the field numbered 448,435 against approximately six millions in the late war.
