THE VATICAN - AND PRAGUE.
To the Editor.
Sir, Tlie cable message cmanati-g from the A. and N.Z.P.A., and oar£ graphed in last night J s “Herald” under the headlines: “Priests Secede,” “Vatican Alarmed,” reverses somewhat the true position of the Czecho-Slovakia « el -'gv m relation to the authority of the Holy See and their attitude therew. Only recently, clergy and religious, lay men and women—all ranks and classes gave a splendid demonstration of devotion to the Catholic faith and loyalty to the Holy See, in assembling to greet Cardinal Bonnie as Papal Envoy, and to do honour to St. Wenceslaus, patron saint of the Czechs. For Hie first time in history the feast was celebrated by a free and independentpeople, whose clergy testified, almost in their first act, their loyalty to the See of S%. Peter by sending “greetings” to the Vatican in their own. name and that of the nowly-r-esuscitated State. “To those who doubt the innate Catholicity of the clergy or the CzechsSlovakians as a whole, there is food for thought in the proceedings that took place on the 28th of September last in honour of -the glorious KingSaint who ruled over a powerful Bohemia, in which national prosperity and a strong religions spirit were inseparable.”—l am, etc., DBOMADAR K. Aramoho, 27th January, 1920,
