(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 24. The weather was decidedly unpropitious for the last day of the Wellington races, steady rain falling nearly all day. The course was very heavy. Consider, ing the unpleasant conditions the attendance was large. The tote put through .£58,564 10s for the meeting .£193,193 compared with .£119,100 for the two days last year. Results: Wallaceville Welter.—2 Chaeronia 1, 8 Mumbe 2, 4 Starland 3. Also ran: 1 Back Hill, 5 Arch Lassie, 3 Prince Hall, 6 Red Signal, 7 Explorer. Won by three lengths. Time, 1.33 1-5. Melrose Welter.—l Penury Rose*!, 4 Ermine 2, 2 Lingerie 3. Also ran: 9 Alteration, 5 Old Gold, 7 Paddington Green, 3 Demagogue, 8 Sonnino, 6 Royal. Exchange. Won by a length. Time" 1.32 2- 5 .

Hopeful Stakes.—l Demand 1, 7 Fortune teller 2, 2 Welldone 3, Also ran; 4 Wake, 8 Phio, 3 La Paix, 5 Perente, 6 Celmisia. Won by a neck. Time 1.2 3-5. ‘

Waterloo Stakes.—l Surveyor, 1; 2 Right and Left, 2; 4 Trespass, 3. Also ran ; 3 Caricature. Caricature led Right and Left into the straight, but over the last two furlongs Surveyor came om winning by a head. Time* 1.14 1-5. Summer Handicap.—l Amythas, I; 7 Borealis, 2; 3 Bagdad. Also ran; 2 Acre, 6 Spanner, 5 Rose Wreath, 4 Bonnetter, 3 Battle Array. Borealis led down the back, but Amythas joined him at the half-mile and, coming away, won by a length, Badgad two lencths off. Time, 1.44 1-5.

Consolation Handicap. Maid, 1; Royal Stag. 2; 3 Punka, 3. Also ran: 4 Snub, 9 Impediment-, 5 Mascot, 2 Melee, 8 Rosa Pink, 7 Paddington Green. Won by three lengths. Time, 2.12 2-5.

City Handicap.—3 Bindlc, 1; 1 Mi-i cliaela, 2; 3 80-Peep, 3. Also Chimera, 4 Maioha, 6 Astinome. idstiuomo was prominent early. Miohaela and Bindlc took command in the straight, the ’alter winning by a bare length, 80-Peep two lengths off. Time, 1.14.
