SHOWMEN'S VENDETTA.
FIERCE FIGHT AT EDINBURGH.
A fight between rival showmen of fierce and vindictive nature occurred late at night recently in Edinburgh. Two large show grounds had been occupied by carnivals in different parts of the city, and one hand of showmen resented the others being in the city at the same time. Both carnivals were elaborate, and employed about 200 people each. Late at night, during an intense rainstorm, forty showmen suddenly launched an attack on the show in the Royal Gymnasium grounds. A massive plank was driven in the circus, and soon partially demolished the structure. The other showmen, roused from their beds, rushed to the defence of their property, and a terrific fight, lasting an hour ensued. The police were urgently telephoned for, and a large force arrived. Two men and a woman had to be removed to the infirmary, and a great number of the showmen and the women who joined in resisting the onslaught suffered from injuries, but refused to leave the caravans for medical aid.
