CLEMENCEAU'S DEFEAT

GERMAN PUBLIC OPINION*

WARNING BY PRESS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received January 22, 10.30 a.m. BERLIN, Jan. 18. The German public, regarding Clemenceau as the incorporation of French Chauvinism and Jiatred, has interpreted his defeat as a desire on the part of influential French politicians for an altered policy towards Germany. The newspapers, however, warn the public that Clemeneeau’s defeat does not imply the defeat of his policy.
