HON. A. M. MYERS.
QUESTION OE HIS NATIONALITY. AUCKLAND, November 17. _ The Hon. A. M. Myers opened his election campaign to-night. Mr Myers had a good reception and was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence. Mr Myers dealt at length with the question of his nationality. “During fourteen years of my public life,” he said, “never before has the question of my religion and the birthplace of my parents been raised. I regret, however, that some half dozen ladies, headed by one whose parents were bom in Hanover, have endeavoured to damage my political career and hint my mod; sacred feelings.” Mr Myers then went on to say that his father’s family had resided in England for over two hundred years. His grandfather was scut as a "Rabbi to Russian Poland, where his father was bom. The city of his birth, Thom, was, at the time of his birth, technically in Prussia, having been annexed by that country. As was known, this city had again been restored to Poland by last year’s Peace Treaty. Bis father returned to England, until he emigrated to Australia, where Mr Myers was born.
