OBITUARY.

Australaiw and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, November 13. Obituary.—Earl Brassey, as the result of a motor accident. The late Earl Brassey was born in 1836. and was educated at Rugby and Oxford. He was a staunch Liberal, and represented Devonport in 1865, aud Hastings from 1868 to 1885. He was Civil Lord to the Admiralty from 1880 to 1884. and Secretary to the Admiralty from 1884-85. He served in a number of Royal Commissions, and was President of the Institute of Naval Architects from 1893 to 1895. He was Governor of Victoria from 1895 to 1900. He was well-known in yachting circles, and travelled over 400,000 knots in the Sunbeam.
