WANGANUI CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

A meeting of the above Association was held in the Builders’ Association Rooms on the evening of the Bth. Members of the Committee, President N. M. Forbes (in the obair), supported by vice-presidents Messrs Copeland; Messrs A. Straehan, Chas Brodie, W. S. Corby, J. McLeod, R. Mackenzie, Jas. Patterson, and W. Herd.

Thirty-six new members were elected. It was decided to hold a Bum’s Concert in the Opera House on January 25th. The sports meeting to be held on the first Saturday in February. A subcommittee was appointed to arrange concert and sports programme respectively. The president introduced Captain R. Haddow, who has been appointed PipeMajor of the Wanganui Pipe Band. Captain. Haddow has been on active service for the past four years with the N.Z. Forces. He has been appointed with pipe bands and exponents of the terpsicborean art for many years, and Wanganui folk will no doubt assist him in his efforts to make the Wanganui Pipe Band, “nullus secundus” to any in New Zealand.

The Society have decided, owing to so many counter attractions ou tho 22nd January to hold their annual meeting on February 6th, the weekly half-holida'y.
