EXPECTED DROP IN PRICES,

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.

Received November 12, 9.25 a.m, • LONDON, November 11

The newspapers foreshadow a reduction of 2d per lb in the controlled price of bacon, a reduction in the price of coal, an Increase in the weekly butter ration to If ounces, and the release from bond of a greater supply of whisky. CONTROL OF COAL. Received November 12, 10.30 a.m. t LONDON, November 9. Sir Auckland Geddes, speaking at Liverpool, said the Government’s business in trade matters is to stand out of the way, hut State control of coal is justified while production is low. Intensive propaganda by employers among workmen would stimulate production as effectively as war propaganda did recruiting. The fall in the value of money is hitting workmen harder than anybody, inasmuch as, on the average, increased wages did not quite compensate for the increased cost of living.
