PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
ANOTHER ALTERATION. TWO DAYS TO BE OBSERVED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 7. Cabinet has decided in connection with the Peace celebrations that Monday* July 21st, is to be observed as a public holiday, and has agreed to pay subsidies to local bodies for that day as well as for Saturday, 19% CHRISTCHURCH 1 TO HAVE TWO DAYS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 7. In connection with th 6 Peace Committee’s protest against the Government’s decision to pay a subsidy on sums expended in celebrations on July 19 only, the Hon. G. W..' Russell has asked for the amount of extra expenditure involved in the July 21 arrangements for the purpose of submitting the matter to the -Cabinet. The chairman of the committee has the information,* stating that the programme as arranged will be carried out.
