ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
AUCKLAND, July 7. Robert Tryday and Thomas Callender sustained severe injuries by a fall of cases from a sling while they were working in the hold of the steamer Arahura. Both are in the Hospital. Alexander S. McGilhvray, who returned from active service on Friday, died suddenly at his parents’- residence. CHRISTCHURCH, July 7. John Spann, aged 57, was found hanging by a rope in a shed at the brickworks at Hillsborough. The Coroner found that Spaau committed suicide, hut there was no evidence as to the state of his mind. Charles Batchelor, aged 40, was runover by a motor-car on the North Road, Belfast, on Saturday, and died in the Hospital from fracture of *the skull. DANNEVIRKE, July 7. A well-known resident of southern Hawke’s Bay, Jeremiah Cullinane, farmer. of Oringi, met with an accident on Friday night, which terminated fatally this morning. Returning from Oringi station in a gig, his horse shied. CulI hane was picked up unconscious, and oie<! from injuries received to his head. Deceased ' resided in Dannevirke since the early days,, and was a well-known contractor, and formerly a member of the Dannevirke Borough Council. He 'eaves a widow and a grown-up family.
