COMPENSATION CLAIM.
AN UNUSUAL CASE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 28. An unusual compensation, case is proceeding at the Arbitration Court, and it is said to be the first of its kind in New Zealand. The widow of Frank Walker, compositor of the Otaki Mail, has claimed £3OO alleged damages from Frank Penn, the proporietor of the Mail. Vvhila at his work Walker met with an accident to his head, for which he received medical attention.'The doctor prescribed rest. Walker, formerly a strong, cheerful man, became quite changed. He was irritable and complained of giddiness. On the third day after the accident he left his bed and said he was going for a walk. His body was foujfd in the river three weeks later. A postmortem reevaled under Hie site of the abrasion on the head a clot of blood which the doctor said was undoubtedly due to the injury, and would account for the peculiar manner of deceased. The Court was asked to infer that Walker while mentally deranged in consequence of the injury sustained at work committed suicide. Compensation was claimed accordingly.
