VANCOUVER, April 20. The United States Shipping- Board has definitely decided against wooden ships, because they are slower and less economic than steel for- ocean voyages. Wherever possible wooden shipyards will bo converted into steel assembling yards. No more contracts for wooden vessels will be awarded by the Governments i n the United States or Canada. After-war demands arc recognised by the construe, tion of vessels capable of" carrying 8000 tone.
