ANZAC DAY.
CELEBRATIONS AT WELLINGTON.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 25. Anrac Day Celebration is taking place in dull, cold weather. At the Catholic Churches Mass was said for the repose of the souls of the fallen. At all the schools there were celebrations, and this afternoon a big memorial service is being held at tho Commercial Travellers’ Club, whore patriotic addresses are to be delivered by Ilia Prime Minister and other jnenibcea of the Government. GENERAL BIRDWOOD'S MESSAGE. WELLINGTON, April 26. The Governor-General received the following telegram from General Birdwool; Ou this, the third anniversary of Aueac Day, I desire to convey the greeting of the members of the Australian Force to tho ]>eoplc of New Zealand, and to assure them that New Zealand and Australian troops are continuing to uphold the groat traditions established on 25th April, 1915. The many months during which New Zealand and Australian troops fonght literally shoulder to shoulder in a common cause can never be forgotten by either. All who axe lighting to-day realise that th« safety and honour of their homes and people are as much in their safe custody as they were three years ago, ipyf in thia trust they will not fail.
