BIG VICTORY FOR NATIONAL GQVERNMENT, (Australian and N.Z. Cable Received December 19, 11.15 a.m. OTTAWA, December 18. The Canadian Press, With the exception of Quebec, welcome the result of the election as a great mcjral upheaval of the national conscience. The issue was one between the policy of “Wait and see, while soldiers died,” or cf sending immediate aid. Canada has answered overwhelmingly, and will help her soldiers, thereby upholding her proud position of the greatest of the overseas Dominions. The latest returns show that only three of Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s supporters were elected west of Ontario. Blondin (Postmaster-General) and Sevigny (Minister of Land Revenue) were defeated in Quebec Province. The other Ministers were elected. Mr Foster obtained a record majority of 14,000.
