INEFFICIENT DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPLIES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received December 19, 8.55 a.m. LONDON, December 18. : The prevalence of queues throughout the country is almost entrely due to inefficient distribution of supplies. In many instances women make a business of standing in the pueues and afterwards selling what they et to neighbours at a profit The only problem awaiting solution is a more systematic distribution. The official Laoour Gazette estimates that food, rent, clothing, fuel, and light used by the working class family averages 85 per cent, than before the war, while the average advaijve in secondary foodstuffs, excluding coffee, is between 140 and 150 per cent.. Food pricis in Norway are 1j.4 per cent, above pre-war’ rates, and in the United Kingdom 105. These head the world’s list. New Zealand is the lowest with 27.4. AUSTRIAN AFFAIRS. Cable Association, Received December 19, 8-55 a.m. BERNE,* December 18.1 The Urzal Czech deputy moved a resolution in the Austrian Chamber demanding a division of land among the peasants. He arged that since Austria and Germany recognised the Maximalists and fraternised with them, they should adopt the principles of communism, forming the basis of the Maximalist programme.
