EVERYBODY'S. "THE SIXTEENTH WIFE." The interior of a harem as it really is will be seen in "The Sixteenth Wife,]' where there are several scenes of Orinntal splendour and luxury. Patrons at Everybody's to-night should be well pleased with the programme, which has been very well spoken of in the larger cities. The two-reel LKO comedy promises to be a real side-splitter. HIS MAJESTY'S. That excellent novel of Hamlin Garland's, "The Captain of the Grey Horse Troop," will be presented in picturised form as the leading picture on the change of bill at His Majesty's Theatre to-night. The Ifth chapter of "The Iron Claw," which, as in previous numbers, is full of incidents and surprises, will complete the programme. THE NEW DANDIES. Mr Edward Branscombe's popular company, the "New Dandies," will appear next Saturday and Monday evenings in the Opera House. One writer describes them as flolows: "It is the saving grace of humour that keeps the British race from 'knocking under' in adversity, and enables the Briton to meet whatever is coming to him with philosophical unconcern. To keep alive this sense of humour is a patriotic duty, and such is the mission of the bright and cheery folk called the 'Ne wDandies.' They are present-day troubadours, and they set out to give their patrons a real good time without taxing their intellectuality overmuch." The Dandies will present an entire change of programme when they appear as above. The plan is at H. I. Jones and Sons'. VICTORIA AVENUE SCHOOL. FOOD FAIR AND SALE OF PRODUCE, Etc, A miscellaneous collection of goods is again making, its appearance at the Avenue School in preparation for the Fair on Friday week, the 12th inst. Although it is to begin with a food fair, and foodstuffs of all kinds will no doubt be much in evidence, it is clear that many will give articles of other kinds, and so the announcement is made —"Nothing will be refused." Weather and other conditions permitting, the fair will be held in the fine large paddock attached to the school —otherwise, inside the buildings. Remember —Friday, the 12th. MOTOR GYMKHANA IN AID OF G.F.S. HOSTEL. LABOUR DAY, OCT. 2*. One of the chief features of the motor gymkhana on October 22nd will be the poster parade. There is a prize for the prettiest poster advertising a shop, and another for the most Each Is. entrance ticket to the grounds entitles the possessor to vote for the posters. The following firms have entered : Messrs. Kaganski, Cooper, Carrad and Howe, Fashionette Co., McGruer's, Callaghan, Therkleson, Hean and Co., Rees-Jones, Ambrose, Rice, T. E. Thomas and Co., Purser and Co., Philpotts, Gilbert, Ross. Drew, Spurdie, Souness, Wallace, Brown, O'Hara, Senior and Benmtt., Tingey's, Broadhead, Belby, Mrs. Wooton's Belgian Work, Everybody's, and tne Grand Picture Theatres. There is no limit to the number of entries, and it is hoped that many more firms will enter this splendid advertising competition and help to make the day a success. There promises to be a fine display of floral decorations. Prizes are to be given for the best decorated doll's pram, children's four-in-hand, children's tandem, decorated pony, dog, bicycle, tricycle, go-cart, perambulator, sunshade, button-holes, table, bowl of flowers, basket of flowers, bouquet, and lady's spray The procession will lead off with the decorated motors, followed by the decorated cycles,, etc. The Butchers' Union has also kindly consented to enter the procession, and last, but not least, comes the poster parade. In addition to the motor competitions, there are stalls of every variety, also Christmas-tree, character reading, lightning portraits, Punch and Judy, and Fairy Tinkabel]. Mrs Cleland is organising a Maypole dance. There will also be brilliant half-hour entertainments by leading amateurs, assisted by College boys. A feature of the entertainment will be the presentation of each poster separately in a large picture frame. All entries for the various competitions are to be sent in to Messrs. Fairburn aild Silk, Victoria Avenue.
