AMUSEMENTS & MEETINGS.

THE GRAND. "JEALOUSY." The photoplay which will open at the Grand Theatre for a three days' run, commencing to-night, is the Fox drama entitled "Jealousy," witti Miss Suratt in the lead. The supporting pictures include topical, drama, and comedy. Patrons are requested to be seated early. FORDELL'S ENTERPRISES. That enterprising place, Fordell, has evidently decided not to be left behind in the race of the "Our Day" appeal. On Monday night an excellent concert and dance was given in the Fordell Hall, the result being that the sum of £2B 12s 2d was obtained. Mrs Sutherland had provided an exceptionally good programme, those contributing being— Miss Martin, Mr and Mrs C. Suisted, Miss Robertson, Mr and Mrs Sperring, Mr Guild, Mr Tocker, Mrs Sutherland, Mr W. H. J- Reynolds, and Mr C. Ferry. Another great effort is being arranged for October 11, when a sale of produce, etc., will be held in the Fordell Hall. • The Mayoress, Mrs Mackay, has kindly consented to open the sale at 3 p.m. A concert and dance will be held in the evening, and as an interlude a gift auction will take place. Townspeople will be interested to know that wild pork, sucking-pig, lamb and mutton, home-made bread and butter, eggs and poultry, etc., will be on sale, and altogether the function bids fair to be a phenomenal success. The fact that Mrs Sutherland, of Fordell, and committee, have the affair in hand, is in itself a sufficient criterion of success.
