THE COAL STRIKE.
ARRESTED MINERS REMANDED* CASE LIKELY TO LAST TWO WEKS. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 19. Six Huntly miners and three West Coast miners arrested in connection with the "go slow" strike, were to-day remanded till next Monday. It was stated tliat tne case would last fully two weeks. Subsequently a Huntley miner named John Wesley, sen., was arrested on a charge of seditious utterance. He was also remanded till Monday. There are forty-two informations against the nine miners originally arrested, and fifty-five miners at Huntly have been summoned to appear later as parties to a seditious strike. Tfce informations include excerpts from correspondence between officials, and is alleged to denote encouragement of restriction on the outptit of coal mines. PUKEMIRO MINERS OUT. (Per United Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, April 19. The miners have struck work at Pfakemiro. eight miles from Huntly. One hundred and fifty men are out. FARMERS' AND CITIZEN'S PATRIOTIC RESOLUTION. HOKITIKA, April 19. A representative meeting of farmers and others adopted the Geraldine scheme for the * control of soldiers' farms. At the end of the meeting, the telegram sent to the Acting-Premier by the Federation of Labour was referred. to, and a resolution was adopted unanimously to notify the Premier that the Westland district was behind the Government in its desire to see the National Service Act fully carried out. The wisdom of the country, as expressed through Parliament, passed the Act, and the meeting's desire was to have the Act fully enforced. On the carrying of the motion the large meeting sang the National Anthem.
