TWO ENEMY ATTACKS BROKEN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received April 16, 2.50 p.m. LONDON, April 15. A French communique says: North and south of the Oise night reconnaissances everywhere found the enemy trenches occupied. East of Maison de Champagne our reconnaissances penetrated the German trenches, which were found to be utterly wrecked. On the right bank of the Meuse two German attacks at Boisdecaurieres and in the direction of Lee Chambrettes were broken. We downed 21 aeroplanes, and four more were compelled to land, badly damaged. A German official message states: In consequence of the removal of our line northward of the Scarpe, there have been only minor engagements, in which the enemy suffered heavily. From the Scarpe lowland to the Arras-Cambrai railway there was violent fighting yesterday. British massed divisions attacked several times, but were sanguinarily repulsed. An artillery duel continues in Westera Champagne and between Soissons and Rheims. The French, British, and Americans lost 21 aeroplanes and two balloons. THE NEW RUSSIA. - SEPARATE PEACE IMPROBABLE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received April 16 2.35 p.m. PETROGRAD April 15. The Council of Soldiers and Workers' Delegates declares its intention of retaining position as a sort of second House in the temporary Government conferences. The proceedings suggest that spearate peace is infinitely lessprobable than before the revolution.
