THE HALAKITE INQUIRY.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received March 20, 8.30 a m. LONDON, March 28. At the halakite inquiry, file charges against the authorities in connection with the “Field" raid were withdrawn? The inquiry continues in reference to the British 'authorities’ refusal to accept halakite or permit its manufac-., ture. Sir F- C. Smith stated there was no imputation against the Field or Mr Cook as editor. He hinted that other proceedings would be taken against certain parties after the inquiry. Moulton gave exidencc after an analysis had disclosed tire presence of 22 per cent of nitro-glycen no be considered a deliberate imposture was being practised.
GROSSLY MISLED. Received March 29, 12.30 p.m. LONDON, March 28." At the halakite inquiry, in view of the Attorney-General’s disclosure and Moulton’s evidence, Sir E. j l . Cook withdrew, saying he had been grossly misled regarding halakite.
