PERSONAL.
Mr F. W. Hart, dcputy-Eegistrar of the Supreme Court) Sheriff, Clerk cf the Magistrate's Court, Registrar of Electors, and Registrar of Pensions and Patents, has been called up for military duties, and will probably proceed to camp next month. At a meeting of the Licensing Committee held to-day, Mr F. Meuli, one of the oldest members of that body, paid a high tribute to the work Mr Hart had clone in his capacity as clerk to the committee. Mr Meuli said that he had been connected with Mr Hart on the committee for a number of years, and during that time Mr Hart had paid strict attention to his duties and had been of great assistance to the committee. It would always give members pleasure to know that a man who had been so long associated with the licensing bench would be at the front doing his bit. He regretted that he and his associates could not be there also, Mr J. 0. L, Hewitt. S-M., chairman of the committee, endorsed Mr Meuli’s remarks, and added that during the time he had known Mr Hart officially he had always found him to be a capable officer. It would not only be a loss _to the Court, but to the profession in Wanganui when Mr Hart left his post here to fight for his country. Personally Mr Hewitt very much regretted Mr Hart’s departure. In a few w.ell-chosen remarks Mr Hart said that the time had come when his duty called him elsewhere. He regretted leaving his position, but he was leaving because it was his duty to do so.
