THE OUTPUT OF MUNITIONS
ALLIED CONFERENCE IN LONDON. VISITORS AMAZED AT BRITAIN'S EFFORTS. Received November 29, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, November 23. After a week’s conference of the Ministers of Munitions, at which France, Russia, and Italy were represented, a complete understanding was reached as to the respective needs and resources of the four Powers. The conference determined on systematic and co-operative action, instead of isolated effort. During the last six months the British output of guns, machine guns, and ammunition has been revolutionised. The controlled establishments arc now producing far more than all the old arsenals were early in 1915. The representatives of the Allies were amazed and delighted at Britain’s Colonial efforts. A Russian military mission at Britain’s colonial efforts under Vice-Admiral Roussine has reached London, and remains there in order to increase the co-operation of the Allies. REPATBIATFD FRENCH SUBJECTS. Received November 29, 9 a.m. LONDON. November 23. The Exchange’s Geneva correspondent says that Germany has agreed to repatriate many French subjects taken as hostages. Twenty thousand have been ■sent to Switzerland. LORD KITCHENER IN ITALY, ROME, November 28. Lord Kitchener and Sir James Renuell Rodd, British Ambassador to Italy, conferred with Signor Salandra (Premier) and Baron Sonnino (Minister of Foreign Affairs) and other Ministers.
