OBITUARY.

REV. JOHN STEVEN. Tlio Rev. John Steven, who passed away on Friday, at the of 71, at his residence, Wicksteed Street, was for just on ■lt) years pastor in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Papakaio, North Otagyi. He was one of the pioneers in tiie Presbyterian Church in North Ota?o and served his church and congregation continuously until, much against his will, he was induced to spare himself and take a well-earned rest. About a year a«ro, the Rev, Steven settled in this district, where his family, Miss Steven. JVicksteed Street, Miss Martha Steven, U.A., H.Sc.. of the Technical College, and Dr. David Steven, of Stratford, reside. His personal charm had made him many friends in Wanganui, but it is in his own charge, where he had very many life-long friends, that his death will he most widely felt.
