GERMANS DEFEATED NEAR RIGA.
The High Commissioner reports: LONDON, October 24 (4.0 p.m.L Petrograd reports that the Germane defending Doraeeneas, near Riga, have been defeated. In the Komarovo region, near Roll”, we captured a further 22 officers and 600 privates. GERMANS DRIVEN BACK FROM RIGA. BRITISH SUBMARINES'SCARE OFF GERMAN WARSHIPS. Received October 25, 12 noon. COPENHAGEN, October 24. The Russian expedition to Couv’xnd was stronger than the Germans imagined. It has pressed forward since Saturday morning, and the Germans are falling back. It is believed that the British submarines scared off the German warships.
