The latest telegrams suggest that German reinforcements are endangering Riga. They have reached Olac, 12 miles from Riga. Heavy fighting is proceeding on the plateau of Olai, dominating the marshy plains on both sides of the Mitau-Riga railway. The path of the German advance is hampered by thick woods and intersected with swampy streams. The Germans have also reached the Dvina at Borkowitz, 18 miles up the stream from Riga.
