BOXING.
DARCY STOPS DYER. Pred Dyer, having previously boxed 20 rounds with Les Darcy, might have been expected to have' some confidence.' But, on Saturday, the 9tli inst, at the Sydney Stadium, when the pair met for the second time, he was palpably nervous. Darcy, weighing 9flb heavier than bis opponent, and still fib under the middleweight limit of list 61b, looked more powerful and confident than ever. He simply crowded Dyer, who, despite his pluck and elusive cleverness, was always playing second fiddle. In duo course the obvious happened* Dyer sought refuge in clinches, and was uppercut severely, until ho was ripe for one finishing | blow. Then his seconds, in the sixth round, skied the towel. It was hardly a contest, Darcy did not trouble in the least Over Dyer’s punches, and for the most part did not bother about blocking. He telt that could get his opponent, and but for the towel would have done so. Still it was good to see a big house (for these days) waiting back to applaud the plucky loser.— Sydney Telegraph. : 1
