MEETING RETURNING TROOPS.
CONCESSIONS TO PARENTS. Arrangements have been made by the Defence Department for railway concession tickets to be issued to the parents or next-of-kin of invalided or wounded soldiers returning to the Dominion, on transports or hospital ships. The regulations come into force in .respect' to the troops who will shortly return by the Tahiti. The Department advises that on presentation of t'no telegraphic or other notification that a soldier is returning invalided or wounded on a traijsport or hospital ship, railway statioihn asters will issue return railway tickets., to bona-fide relatives, being, the parents of the soldiers indicated, or where there are-no' parents, to one person who is next-of-kin, for'the purpose, if ,-of/proceeding to. jbbe nearest port’ 'of call. -. Parents or nextrofkin -of officers, warrant offipejg, and sor-geanfs-major will .receive .tickets, and:': second-class ticketsvyill-be issued to relatives ofother ranks.. The .tickets will bo issued ip. the following manner : In the North Island, from any station to Wellington; in -the South Island, from any station _in Canterbury to, Lyttelton; from Grcymouth section to Greymouth or Lyttelton; on ..Westport section to Westport or Lyttelton: on Nelson section to Nelson: on Picton section to Picton. The concession applies to the issue of railway tickets only, and no liability will be accepted by the Department where steamer passages are also involved. .
